Mansfield, Conn. – Senior forward Hannah Collier (Watertown, Conn.) scored her second goal of the year in the 15th minute and sophomore goalie Olivia Mullen (Bethel, Conn.) recorded her second shutout as the Eastern Connecticut State University field hockey team defeated Framingham State University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a Little East Conference (LEC) match at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

The conference win is the first for Eastern ( 3-4, 1-2 LEC) since 2010. The home win was also the first of this year for Eastern. The Rams are now 4-2 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.

Collier scored an unassisted goal when Framingham senior goalie Sarah Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) was unable to kick away a loose ball in the circle. Collier was able to get to the free the ball, which bounced behind Ryan and she scored into an open net before falling to the ground.

Eastern played a person down for the final 36 minutes after Collier received a red card ejection with just a minute left in the first half. The Warriors also kept the Rams from scoring despite being accessed nine minutes in penalties on two green cards and a yellow card in the second half. The Warriors played shorthanded while players served those penalties.

Ryan finished the game with three saves for the Rams who outshot Eastern 8-5 in the game.

Eastern visits Fitchburg State University in a conference match Wednesday at 6 p.m., while the Rams host Western Connecticut on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
