Field Hockey Closes Season with 3-0 Loss to Keene State

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State Unviersity field hockey team ended the 2011 season this morning with a 3-0 loss to conference leader Keene State College in Little East Conference field hockey action at Maple Street Field. 

With the win, the Owls have secured the top seed in next week's Little East Post Season Tournament as they improve to 16-4 overall and 11-0 in the LEC.  The Rams finish the season 4-14 overall and 1-10 in the conference.

The Owls scored the game winner in the 9th minute of play as Elizabeth Coffin (Sugar Hill, NH) collected a rebound in the circle and fired a shot in the back of the cage.

The Owls extended their lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute when senior Aislynn Sherry (Rehoboth, Mass.) fired a shot at the net that junior Kalin Billert (Center Conway, NH) redirected into the back of cage.  Keene's Kerry Howe (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) scored off a Coffin feed in the 69th minute to reach the final margin of 3-0.

The Owls outshot the Rams 27-4 in the game and held a 15-4 edge in penalty corners.  Sarah Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) made 16 saves for the Rams, while Caitlin Davino-Draper (Hanover, Mass.) made two stops en route to the shutout victory for the Owls.

The Owls return to action next week as the top seed in the LEC Tournament which is slated to begin on Tuesday.
