Field Hockey Suffers 2-1 Setback at Gordon

Wenham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team was defeated in non-conference action tonight at Gordon College by a score of 2-1.  The Rams suffer their fifth straight loss of the season and fall to 1-5 on the year, while the Fighting Scots improve to 3-6.

The Fighting Scots took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute as Samantha Neverett and Grace Fabry connected for the game's first goal.

The game would remain 1-0 in favor of Gordon College until midway through the second half when sophomore Demi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) notched her team leading third goal of the season – an unassisted tally that tied the score at 1-1 with just over 17 minutes remaining.

The tie would not last long as just under five minutes later Melanie Landis would score the eventual game winner for the Fighting Scots.

Gordon College outshot the Rams 12-6 in the game, while the Rams held a 10-8 advantage in penalty corners.  Junior Sarah Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) made seven saves in a losing effort for the Rams, while Anna Bury made four stops for Gordon en route to the victory.

The Rams return to action on Thursday night at 8 p.m. against Wheelock at the Winsor School.
