Field Hockey Shutout at Daniel Webster

Field Hockey Shutout at Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. – Junior Samantha Bark's (Belfast, Maine) goal 19 minutes into the first half stood up as the eventual difference maker and the Daniel Webster field hockey team held off a furious second half Framingham State rally to nip the Rams, 1-0 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at Harvey Woods Field.

Bark's marker, coming off a tic-tac-toe pass play from Courtney Brennan (Beverly, Mass.) and Meaghan Farrelly (N. Kingstown, R.I.), gave the Eagles (1-2) their first win of the season, while the Rams (1-3) dropped their second straight.

DWC held a 6-5 advantage in shots at the half, but the Rams pressed throughout the second frame, outshooting the hosts 9-0 in the half.

Eagle senior goalkeeper Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) stole the show, registering seven second half stops to preserve the shutout. Ram keeper Sara Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) made four stops as she picked up the loss.

Framingham swarmed over the final 14 minutes and nearly tied the game three times, including a Kaitlyn Ranieri (Bellingham, Mass.) tip that Prince batted down, an Emma Littlefield (Rockport, Mass.) slapper from the top of the circle that Prince caught with the right pad, and a Ram penalty stroke with five minutes to go that just went wide left.

The Rams would also finish with a 16-4 advantage in penalty corners.

The Eagles play game three of a four-game home stand on Thursday against Thomas College beginning at 3:30 p.m., while the Rams resume Little East play on Friday night at UMass Dartmouth.
