Field Hockey Downs Gordon 3-0

Framingham, Mass.  — Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Ranieri (Bellingham, Mass.) scored the game winner 5:27 into the game as the Framingham State University field hockey team defeated Gordon College today 3-0 at Maple Street Field. With the win, the Rams even their record at 3-3, while the loss drops the Fighting Scotts to 2-6 on the year.           

Ranieri collected a rebound in the box off of a shot on a penalty corner and flipped a shot into the back of the cage for the game winner and her first collegiate goal.

The Rams would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 12:59 mark as senior forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, Mass.) found freshman Demi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) in the circle.  Miskiv connected for her second goal of the season.

The game would remain 2-0 until the 67th minute as Sacco scored an insurance goal for the Rams.

The Rams outshot the Fighting Scotts 16-6 in the game as senior goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) made three saves to pick up the shutout victory in the cage for the Rams.  Freshman Anna Bury (Huntingtown, MD) made five stops for Gordon in a losing effort.

The Rams return to action on Saturday morning as they host Worcester State in LEC showdown beginning at 10 a.m., while the Fighting Scotts travel to Nichols on Friday night at 5 p.m.
