Box Score

Bridgewater, Mass. - Senior defender Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tallied the game's only goal to lead the Framingham State College field hockey team to a 1-0 win over host Bridgewater State in Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey action this afternoon at Swenson Field.

Framingham State improves their record to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in Little East play.  Bridgewater falls to 8-5 on the season and 6-3 in the LEC.  The Rams remain tied atop the Little East standings with Fitchburg State and UMass Dartmouth, who also won today, and the Rams will face UMass Dartmouth on the road on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to remain atop the LEC, while the Bears dropped into a fifth place tie in the conference standings with Southern Maine.  Bridgewater State will go head-to-head with Southern Maine on Friday afternoon at 3:30 in Bridgewater.

DiTerlizzi potted the game-winning goal less than 3 1/2 minutes into the second half as she knocked home a rebound off of a Kayleigh Force (Leominster, Mass.) shot.

Bridgewater State appeared to take a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, but a Bethany Bush's (Littleton, Mass.) goal was waived off by the game officials after a brief conference.  It was ruled that the ball was kicked in.

The Rams outshot the Bears by a margin of 10-8, including a 7-2 edge in the second half.  Bridgewater held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners.  The Bears had five penalty corners over a three-minute stretch in the second half and would have capitalized on one of them if not for a defensive save by Force.

Framingham State junior goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) recorded her twelfth win (12-2) and second shutout of the season as she turned aside five shots.  Her counterpart, junior Katie Weber (Arlington, Mass.), made eight saves in the loss for the Bears.
