Field Hockey Downs Eastern Connecticut 6-1

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State College field hockey team improved to 6-1 in Little East Conference (LEC) action this afternoon with a 6-1 win over the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors. With the win, the Rams improve to 9-2 on the season, while the loss drops the Warriors to 1-11 overall and 0-7 in LEC play.

The Rams held a decided advantage in shots on the day as they took 20 to the Warriors five.  They also held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners and were able to convert three corners into goals.

Junior Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored the game winner in the 30th minute as she took a pass on a corner from senior midfielder Jade Franzen (Mansfield, Mass.) and connected for her first of the season. 

The Rams would add two more goals before the half to extend their lead to 3-0 at the break.  Sophomore midfielder Kayleigh Force (Leominster, Mass.) found senior Kali Barrett in the circle and Barrett connected for her ninth goal of the season at 30:55.  Less than three minutes later sophomore Kristin Gentili scored an unassisted tally which was also her first goal of the season.

The Rams would add three more goals in the second half as Force scored unassisted in the 41st minute, sophomore Katie Barry (Fairhaven, Mass.) added an unassisted goal in the 54th minute and Barrett scored her second of the day off an assist from Franzen in the 64th minute.

Sophomore Ali Chapman (Watertown, Conn.) scored the Warriors lone goal in the 69th minute to reach the final margin of 6-1.

Junior Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) made four saves on the day and picked up the win before giving way to   senior Steph Bourgeois (Waltham, Mass.) who made no saves.  Sophomore Danielle Reichardt (Ocean Township, NJ) made ten saves for the Warriors and picked up the loss, while senior Tia Mucciarone (Franklin, Mass.) made one save in 22 minutes of work.               

The Rams return to action on Monday as they travel to Husson University at 2 p.m., while the Warriors travel to Lasell College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
