Field Hockey Drops Second Straight Conference Game at Home

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College field hockey team dropped their second straight Little East Conference (LEC) game at home 2-1 to Worcester State.  With the win, the Lancers move to 11-7 overall and 6-4 in LEC play and are sitting in the fourth position with one conference game remaining.  The Rams, who move to 9-7 overall, fall to 4-6 in the Little East and are currently tied for 9th place with the top eight teams qualifying for the LEC post season tournament.

Sophomore forward Angela Johnson (Ashby, MA) gave the Lancers a 1-0 lead just 6:46 into the game as she knocked home a rebound after Framingham State goalie Steph Bourgeois (Waltham, MA) stopped the initial shot off a penalty corner from Lancer senior forward Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA).

The Rams would tie the score at 1-1 with 9:54 remaining in the opening half as sophomore forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, MA) beat Lancer goalie Erin MacDonald, who finished the day with 12 saves, with a shot over her pads.

The game would remain tied until the 45th minute when senior defender Jillian Tamburro (Marlboro, MA) crossed the ball into the circle to freshman midfielder Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA).  Cozzens initial offering was stopped by Bourgeois, who finished the game with nine stops, but Cozzens stayed with the play and knocked the rebound home for the game winner.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday at 3 p.m. as they host Lasell, while the Lancers travel to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m.
