Johnson & Sacco Earn Little East Conference Honors

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that senior midfielder Erin Johnson (Uxbridge, MA) and freshman forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, MA) have been selected to the 2007 Little East All-Conference Field Hockey First Team.  Sacco was also selected as the conference Rookie of the Year.

Sacco, a 2007 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School, led the Rams and all rookies in the conference in points (29) and goals (14) and ranked third in both categories among all players.  Sacco recorded at least two points in 11 of the Rams 17 games and scored a career high four points twice this season.  She is the lone freshman to earn First Team LEC Honors this season and is the first student-athlete to receive Rookie of the Year honors for the Rams.  Sacco was also recognized as a First Team All-MASCAC selection this fall as the Rams captured a share of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship.

Johnson, a senior communications major, was one of the Rams captains this season and was honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) for the second time in her career.  She was a second team LEC selection in 2005 as a sophomore.  Johnson was the Rams stabilizing force in the midfield this season as she was third on the team in scoring with four goals and six assists for 14 points.  Johnson was selected to the All-MASCAC field hockey team three times over her outstanding four year career for the Rams and the Rams captured a share of two MASCAC Titles over that same period in 2004 and 2007.  She was a First Team All-MASCAC selection in 2005 and 2007 and was a Second Team All-MASCAC selection in 2006.
