Field Hockey Downs Simmons 3-1

Framingham, MA- The Framingham State College field hockey team defeated Simmons College at home today on a rainy Maple Street Field by a score of 3-1.  The win lifts the Rams to 6-5 on the season, while the loss drops the Sharks to 4-9.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute of play as senior Nicole Killian (Blackstone, MA) corralled a pass from freshman Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, MA) and scored her first goal of the season.  Simmons would battle back and tie the game at one in the 12th minute of play on a goal by senior Cammy Keiler (Minot, ME) off a pass from Emily Sypher (Orono, ME).  Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the first half as the game went into intermission knotted at 1-1.

The Rams would finally break the deadlock in the 54th minute of play as sophomore Kali Barrett (Attleboro, MA) sent a pass into the circle and freshman Kristen Sacco (Menden, MA) was able to knock it home for her team leading 10th goal of the season.  Barrett would add an unassisted insurance goal for the Rams in the 62nd minute to finish the scoring.
