Field Hockey Falls to Plymouth as Coach Lord Wins 100th Game

Framingham, MA- Plymouth State University field hockey coach Bonnie Lord picked up her 100th career win today at Framingham's Maple Street Field as the Panthers defeated the Rams 3-1 in Little East Conference action.

The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half as their offense was dominant.  Junior midfielder Ashley Gutowski (Conway, NH) carried the ball thru the Rams defense and fed a perfect pass to senior Rachel Kirschner (Burlington, CT) who was able to knock it home in the 16th minute to score the game winner and give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Less than ten minutes later, sophomore Kerry D'Ambroise (Lowell, MA) found freshman Kristina Conroy (Wakefield, MA) open in  the circle and Conroy was able to find the back of the net to give the Panthers a comfortable 2-0 lead.  The Panthers would add a third goal just before the half in the 32nd minute by junior Amanda Sherburne (Rumney, NH).

The Rams would regroup at half time and were able to cut the Panthers lead to 3-1 in the 39th minute of play as Kristen Sacco (Mendon, MA) scored off a pass from Kali Barrett (N. Attleboro, MA).  However, that was as close as the Rams would get.  Plymouth State goalie Leah Curtin (Londonderry, NH) made seven saves on the day including five in the second half to pick up the win.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Fitchburg State at 11 a.m., while the Panthers travel to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m.
