Field Hockey Defeats Wheelock, 6-0

Framingham, MA- Behind three goals from sophomore forward Kali Barrett (N. Attleboro, MA), the Framingham State College field hockey team posted their third win in a row at home today on Maple Street Field as they defeated the visiting Wildcats of Wheelock 6-0.

The Rams (3-2) led only 1-0 at the half on a goal by freshman forward Meghan Maki (Fitchburg, MA) as Wheelock College (1-3) goalie Lauren Tavares (Burlington, MA) made eight saves in the first half to keep her team close.  The Rams offense took 12 shots against Tavares in the first half and finished the game with 33 shots.

The Rams offense would explode for five second half goals to put the game out of reach.  Freshman forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, MA) would chip in two goals in the 37th and 44th minutes of play to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.  Senior Erin Johnson (Uxbridge, MA) assisted on the first of Sacco's two tallies.  Barrett would score the Rams next three goals in the 53rd, 55th and 57th minutes to pick up her first collegiate hat trick and give the Rams a 6-0 lead.  Maki assisted on the final tally by Barrett and finished the day with a goal and an assist.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Worcester State for an 11 a.m. game, while the Wildcats host Castleton State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
