Field Hockey Picks Up Second Win in a Row

Framingham, MA- Freshman forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, MA) scored two goals to lift the Framingham State field hockey team to a 3-0 win over the visiting Anna Maria College Amcats on Maple Street Field today.  With the win, the Rams move back to .500 at 2-2 on the season, while the Amcats are 1-5.

The Rams controlled the pace of play all day as they out shot the Amcats 26-1.  The Rams were finally able to convert on one of their opportunities in the 26th minute when sophomore Kali Barrett (N. Attleboro, MA) crossed the ball to Sacco who was able to find the back of the net for the game winner.  Sacco would add her second goal of the day two minutes later as freshman Jade Franzen (Mansfield, MA) fed her the ball in front of the net.

The Rams would add a third goal in the 41st minute as junior Allison Piatelli (Attleboro, MA) took a pass from Barrett and scored her first goal of the year.  Barrett finished the day with two assists.

Amcat goalie Alyssa Boykin (Worcester, MA) faced twenty-six shots on the day and finished with sixteen saves as she picked up the lost.  Framingham goalie Steph Bourgeois (Waltham, MA) picked up her first shutout and win of the season while not having to make a save.

The Rams return to action on Thursday as they play host to Wheelock College at 4 p.m., while the Amcats travel to New England College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
