Field Hockey Picks Up First Win of the Seaso In Overtime

Framingham, MA- The Framingham State College field hockey team picked up their first win of the season today at home on Maple Street Field in thrilling fashion over the visiting Owls of Keene State.  The Rams won the game in the sixth minute of overtime on a goal by senior midfielder Erin Johnson (Uxbridge, MA).  The Rams are now 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in Little East Conference (LEC) action; while the Owls are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in LEC play.

The Rams controlled the game early and took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute on a goal by sophomore Kali Barrett (Attleboro, MA).  Keene State would keep the offensive pressure on the Rams all day as they outshot the Rams 16-8.  Framingham State goalie Steph Bourgeois (Waltham, MA) was able to hold the Owls at bay until the 58th minute when sophomore Karen Robinson (Phillipston, MA) found the back of the net to tie the score at 1-1.  Freshman Amy Docle (Windham, NH) assisted on the game tying goal.

The game headed to overtime tied at one and both teams had their chances to score early in the extra frame.  The Rams would finally break the tie in the 76th minute of play as Johnson took a pass from freshman Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, MA) and found the back of the net for the game winner.

The Rams return to action on Monday as they play host to Anna Maria College at 4 p.m., while the Owls host Williams on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
