Bio

James Rippey is entering his fifth year at Framingham State as an assistant coach and third season as the run-game coordinator for the Ram's offense.

This past season, Rippey’s offensive line helped the Ram offense lead the MASCAC conference in first downs and total touchdowns. The unit also surrendered a league-low, 15 sacks on the season despite the team attempting more than 38 passes per game. For these efforts the offensive line received three first team All-MASCAC selections and a second team All-MASCAC running back selection for the second straight year. Also in back-to-back seasons, the unit included the MASCAC offensive lineman of the year award winner who went on to be named All-New England by the New England Football Writers and a member of the first team D3football.com All-East Region Team.

The 2014 offense led the MASCAC conference in rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns. For these achievements the unit received a first team All-MASCAC full-back selection, a second team All-MASCAC running back selection and three first team All-MASCAC selections along the offensive line, including the offensive linemen of the year award winner.

In 2013 Rippey coached an offensive line that featured three first team All-MASCAC selections and one ECAC Division III North All-Star Team member. The offense also boasted a New England Football Writers (NEFW) Gold Helmet Award winner, a NEFW All-New England selection, an ECAC North All-Star, a D3football.com Second Team All-East Region selection and a D3football.com third team All-American.

The 2012 offense boasted the New England Football Conference Bogan Division Offensive Player of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year while establishing new school records for largest margin of victory, most points scored in a game and season, and most rushing yards in a game.

Before joining the Framingham State staff, Rippey spent 13 seasons coaching a variety of sports at several high schools around the Boston area. A graduate of Boston College with degrees in mathematics and history, Rippey obtained a master’s degree in teaching from Northeastern University in 2012.

Rippey is also the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and Intramurals Coordinator at Framingham State.
