Football Headed Back to the Dance – Rams to Face Brockport in the Opening Round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – After receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's (MASCAC) automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament, the 2018 MASCAC Champion Framingham State Rams will be facing the College at Brockport in Brockport, N.Y. in a first round game on Saturday, November 17th.

The Rams will be making their fourth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their first since 2015.  The Rams finished 2017 as co-champions of the MASCAC, but did not receive the automatic bid by virtue of the league's tie breaker policy. 

Framingham State finished the 2018 regular season 8-2 overall and 7-1 in MASCAC action with the key victory of the season coming in week ten when the Rams defeated previously unbeaten Western Connecticut 48-26 to assume the top spot in the league standings.

The 2018 Rams led MASCAC in scoring offense averaging 33.5 points per game, touchdowns scored (49) and total defense allowing just 277.0 yards per game and were second in the league in scoring defense allowing just 17.9 points per game. 

Brockport, currently ranked fourth in the nation in the most recent D3football.com Top 25, finished the regular season 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the Empire 8.  The Golden Eagles won their second straight Empire 8 title and are making their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.  The Golden Eagles led the Empire 8 in scoring offense (44.7 ppg) and scoring defense (7.6 ppg).

This will be the first meeting between Framingham State and Brockport.

The winner of the Framingham/Brockport game will advance to the face the winner of the Renssellaer/Husson first round game on November 24th.
