Harris Named to AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-America First Team

Framingham, Mass. – Senior safety Jaquan Harris (Boston, Mass.) has been honored with selection to the 2017 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America First Team.  Harris is the first Ram to be honored with All-America selection by the AFCA.

Harris ranked among the nation's leaders in interceptions and interceptions per game after his senior season. Harris recorded a school-record nine interceptions on the year, including an NCAA record tying five in a single game.  Harris returned his nine interceptions for 133 yards. He finished the season with 35 total tackles, including 29 solo, with a fumble recovery and nine pass breakups.

Previously, Harris was recognized by D3football.com with selection to the All-East Region Second Team in addition to being selected First Team All-MASCAC.

The AFCA's Division III All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's eight districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
