Silva Joins the European League's Prague Lions

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State University standout quarterback Matt Silva (Dracut, Mass.) has joined the roster of the Prague Lions for the 2016 season.  Silva will join the Lions in late February.

The Prague Lions Club is the first American football team in the Czech Republic and has been dedicated to the development and promotion of football since 1991.  They compete for both the European Champions League Championship and the Czech Bowl.

Silva, who completed work on his degree from Framingham State in December, is coming off a record breaking senior season with Rams. In 2015, Silva ranked among the nation's and conference's leaders in most passing categories throughout the year completing 264-of-411 passes for 3,168 yards with a school record 41 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.  Silva, who currently holds 12 FSU passing records, established new school records for touchdowns in a game (6), touchdowns in a season (41), yards passing in a game (510) and season (3,168) during his senior campaign.  For his career, Silva threw for 9,866 yards with 118 touchdowns while completing 788 of 1,325 pass attempts.

Silva earned multiple post season honors after his final season in the black and gold. Silva was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Offensive Player of the Year, a first team All-MASCAC selection, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston's Joseph Zabilski Award winner, a New England Football Writer's All-New England selection and season Gold Helmet Award winner. He was recognized by D3football.com as an All-East region performer in addition to being selected the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Offensive Player of the Year and a first team all-star.
