Westfield, Mass. –  Framingham State University senior quarterback Matthew Silva (Dracut, Mass.) was an efficient 19-126 passing for 212 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rams to a 35-7 win over Westfield State University at Alumni field on Saturday afternoon.

Framingham improves to 5-1 on the season and is 4-0 and atop the MASCAC standings with the win.   Westfield drops to 1-4 and 0-3 in the MASCAC.

The Rams took a 21-0 lead into halftime.  Silva opened the scoring with a nine-yard pass to Tevin Jones (Springfield, Mass.) with 3:36 left in the first quarter to cap a seven-play, 61-yard drive.   Silva found Napoleon Miller (Boston, Mass.) with a 34-yard scoring strike down the middle to push the lead to 14-0, and then Quron Wright (Worcester, Mass.) returned a Westfield punt 72-yards for a touchdown to give the Rams a 21-0 lead with12:16 to play in the second quarter.

Westfield put together an 11-play, 90-yard drive that started at their own five yard line.  Bryan Waruhiu (Dracut, Mass.) was sprung up the middle for a 48 yard rush on the opening play of the drive, then the Owls pushed the ball down to the Framingham five yard line with under a minute left in the half, but the Rams' Greg Peschel (Taunton, Mass.) intercepted Erik Washburn's (Lisbon, CT) pass at the goal line and returned it to the six-yard line to thwart the Owls best scoring chance of the first half.

Westfield got on the scoreboard after another long drive, a 12-play, 77-yard march, that ended with freshman running back Travon Holder (Hartford, Conn.) scoring touchdown on a 10 yard rush up the middle.  Freshman kicker Tyler Duff (Dracut, Mass.) completed the point after for Westfield to cut the lead to 21-7 with 4:10 left in the third quarter.

Framingham tacked on two fourth quarter touchdowns on an 8-yard run from Jalen Green (Brockton, Mass.)  and a late 2-yard scoring toss from Silva to Jones.

Green finished with 135 yards rushing on 23 carries for the Rams.  Marcus Grant (Carver, Mass.) led the receivers with seven catches for 74 yards. Peschel and Stephen Beahn (Spencer, Mass.) paced the Rams with eight tackles apiece.  Quentin Jones (Springfield, Mass.) picked up a pair of sacks.

Westfield was led by Waruhiu's 21 carries for 122 yards.

Sophomore linebacker John Ollari (Millers Falls, Mass.) led the Owls defense with 11 tackles.  Senior linebacker Marcus Pettigrew (Auburn, Mass.) recorded 10 tackles, a sack and 2.5 tackles for losses for the Owls.

Westfield State will be home next weekend for Homecoming to host Mass Maritime at 2 p.m.   Framingham is idle next week before hosting Mass Maritime on October 24th at noon.
