Football Headed Back to the NCAA Tournament - Updated Information

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University football team has received an at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Football Championship and the Rams will travel to Ithaca College for a first round game on Saturday, November 23rd, at noon.

The Rams, making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, won the inaugural Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship in 2013 as they went a perfect 8-0 in conference play and finished the regular season 9-1 over.  The Rams have faced a pair of NCAA Tournament teams during the 2013 regular season defeating the Endicott College Gulls in week one and falling to Rowan University in week two.

This will be the first meeting between the Rams and Ithaca, the champions of the Empire 8 conference.  The Bombers went 8-2 this season and were 6-1 in the Empire 8.

Ticket prices for Saturday's NCAA Tournament game at Ithaca College are $8 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.  There will be no advance sale of tickets as of this time.

The winner of the Framingham State/Ithaca match-up on Saturday will advance to the second round on Saturday, November 30th and will face the winner of this Saturday's first round contest between Johns Hopkins and Wesley which is being played at Johns Hopkins.

The NCAA Division III Football Championship is a 32 team tournament with 24 teams earning automatic qualifiers through their respective conferences and eight teams earning at-large bids.  There will be 16 first round game on November 23rd followed by eight second round games on November 30th.  The quarterfinals will be played on December 7th with the semifinals on December 14th.  All of these rounds are played at campus sites.  The Tournament concludes with the 41st Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl on December 20th in Salem, Va.
