Muirhead Invited to St. Louis Rams Rookie Camp

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State University standout defensive lineman James Muirhead (Middleboro, Mass.) has been invited by the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL) to their three day rookie mini-camp.  Muirhead will travel to St. Louis to compete with other rookies and undrafted free agents from May 10th-12th.

Muirhead racked up multiple honors as a senior this fall as he helped lead the Rams to their most successful season to date as they captured the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Championship, the NEFC Bogan Division Title, and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Title while making their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Football Championship.  Muirhead is "looking forward to competing at the highest level."

Muirhead, who participated in several post season senior bowl games, earned several awards this season.  He was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Defensive Player of the Year, the New England Football Writers (NEFW) Season Gold Helmet Award winner, an NEFW All-New England selection, a D3football.com First Team All-East Region and a D3football.com Fourth Team All-America selection, a Beyond Sports Network All-America First Team, the NEFC Bogan Division Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-Bogan Division selection.   

The 6-0, 255 pound defensive tackle led the NEFC with 10.5 sacks on the season and is the FSU career leader in sacks and tackles for a loss.  He recorded multiple sacks three times this season and led the Rams with 83 tackles, 59 solo stops, and 23.0 for a loss.  Muirhead had an interception and five forced fumbles with one recovery.  For his career, Muirhead holds school records with 27.5 sacks, 55.5 tackles for a loss and 149 solo stops.
