Van Alstyne Receives Gold Helmet for Week of November 17th

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State University junior running back Melikke Van Alstyne (Salem, Mass.) received the New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Award for his performance on November 17th in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.  Van Alstyne received his Gold Helmet last night along with the Football Championship Subdivision winner, Harvard's Colton Chapple, at the NEFW's annual Captains and Awards Dinner.

In the Rams 20-19 loss to Cortland in the NCAA Tournament, Van Alstyne carried the ball 31 times for 227 yards and a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as the Rams rallied from 13 point deficit.  Van Alstyne scored on runs of four yards and three yards as he averaged 7.3 yards per carry in the game.
