Salem, VA – Framingham State University senior wide receiver James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.) was named the CRONS Player of the Game at the 2011 Division III Senior Classic on Friday night.  McCarthy and the North squad defeated the South 27-14 in the game.

McCarthy played both wide receiver and defensive back catching a pair of touchdown passes from Springfield College quarterback Josh Carter and on the defensive side of the ball intercepting a pair of passes.  The second of McCarthy's two interceptions was in the end zone on the final drive of the game for the South and preserved the victory for the North.

The New England Football Conference was well represented at the game by players and coaches.  The North team was coached by members of the Curry College coaching staff including head coach Skip Bandini, while Framingham State University offensive coordinator Aynsley Rosenbaum served as the North's offensive coordinator.  Other players from the NEFC included linebacker Walter Butler of Massachusetts Maritime, center Brian Kuerta of Curry and running back Marcus Price of Worcester State University.

The Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) presents the Division III Senior Classic which brings players who represent 238 Division III football programs to a North vs. South format all-star game the first week of December each year in Salem, Virginia.  The players selected for the game have earned the honor to play against their best peers in a showcase for all to recognize the talent laden D-III football level.
