Van Alstyne Selected NEFC Offensive Player of the Week

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore running back Melikke Van Alstyne (Salem, Mass.) was selected the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 15th after the Rams defeated Maine Maritime Academy 42-14 on the road Saturday afternoon.   

Van Alstyne earns his first player of the week honors this season after rushing for 251 yards on 31 carries with five touchdowns.  Van Alstyne, who averaged 8.1 yards per attempt, accounted for five of the Rams six touchdowns on runs of 15, 1, 1, 14 and 45 yards.  In addition to the five touchdowns, he also ran for a 2-point conversion.  Van Alstyne broke the FSU single game record for points (32) and tied the record for touchdowns in a game (5). 

Van Alstyne currently leads the NEFC in rushing averaging 157.9 yards per game, all-purpose yards averaging 182.7 yards per game and scoring with 15 touchdowns on the year for 92 points.  The Rams are 5-2 this season and 4-0 in the NEFC Bogan Division with three regular season games remaining.
