McCarthy & Pappagallo Named NEFW Division II/III All-New England

Boston, Mass. — Framingham State University junior wide receiver James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.) and senior safety Anthony Pappagallo have been named to the 2010 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team.  McCarthy and Pappagallo, who earn All-New England honors for the first time, are joined by 29 other players including eight from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) on the All-New England Team.              

Pappagallo continues to rack up awards this season as he was previously named the NEFC Bogan Division Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-Division selection.  He led the Rams defense which ranked first in the Bogan Division in total defense, rushing defense and ranked first in the NEFC in passing defense. Pappagallo racked up 62 tackles including 45 solo stops on the year to along with two interceptions and five pass break ups.

McCarthy, who was also a first team All-Bogan Division selection, rewrote the Rams record book in 2010 as he became the first FSU wide receiver to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a season making 57 catches for 1,017 yards and 21 touchdowns.  Despite missing the first two games of the year due to injury, he is leading the nation in scoring and the NEFC in receptions per game, receiving yards per game, touchdowns and scoring.  McCarthy has broken seven FSU offensive records including touchdown receptions in a game and season, points in a game and season, touchdowns in a game and season, and receiving yards in a season. 

As a team the Rams enjoyed much success in 2010 compiling a school best 8-2 record and earning their first appearance in an ECAC Bowl game as they face off against Norwich on November 20th.
