Kelley Returns as Framingham State College Football Coach

Framingham, MA - Framingham State College is pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Kelley, Framingham State College's Director of Athletics, as the Rams head football coach.  Kelley previously held the position from 1982-1984.

A 1976 graduate of Framingham State College, Kelley was a four-year starter at defensive tackle for the Rams.  He returned to Framingham State College in 1978 as an assistant football coach and assumed the head coaching job in 1982. Kelley served as head coach from 1982-1984 and returned to coaching again in 2001 as a defensive assistant.  Most recently for the past three years Kelley has been the offensive coordinator of the Woonsocket Sentinels, a semi-professional team out of Rhode Island, of the New England Football League.

According to Kelley, "This is an exciting time for Framingham State College football and we are hoping to add some energy to the program with a new coaching staff whose main efforts will be recruiting and revitalizing by adding to the program's numbers.  Our main mission will be to bring the local flavor back to the Rams by recruiting metro west and central mass players.  I feel it is important to get back to the roots of the program which is a forty mile radius of the institution."

According to Framingham State College president Dr. Timothy J. Flanagan "Our goal in making these changes is to restore FSC's intercollegiate football program to a competitive level. With new leadership, energetic recruiting, and a renewed commitment to better performance on the field, we look forward to a much higher level of success in coming seasons."

Tom Kelley is in his eleventh year as Director of Athletics at Framingham State College and has been involved with Framingham State College athletics for the past 21 years.  Since taking over as Athletic Director in 1994, Tom has changed the look of the coaching staff in every program except for baseball.

Kelley holds a master's degree in psychology counseling from Boston State College.  In 1985, Framingham State College created the position of Associate Director of Athletics, which was a perfect fit for Kelley until he was promoted to the role of Director of Athletics.
