Baseball Drops a Pair to Keuka

Winter Haven, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team were defeated 15-9 and 9-2 by Keuka this afternoon in non-conference action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Chain of Lakes Complex. 

THE BASICS:

Game 1: Keuka 15, Framingham 9 

  • After falling behind 9-0, the Rams plated a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning including an RBI single from Johnny Lynch. 

  • Keuka added six more in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead, but the Rams rallied for seven runs in the top of the seventh as they capitalized on six walks by Keuka pitching.  Jakob Lindkvist and Dane Frellick chipped in with RBI singles in the inning and Lucas Basile added a two-run single in the frame. 

  • Basile finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI, while Lynch finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. 

  • Javier Lopez took the loss on the mound going two innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts.  

Game 2: Keuka 9, Framingham 2 

  • In game two, Keuka jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Rams got on the board on a solo home run to left by JC Espinal in the top of the second inning. 

  • Keuka pushed the lead to 7-1 in the top of the fourth. The Rams used a sacrifice fly from Steven Burbank in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to 7-2. Keuka added single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Massimo Mondi finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Espinal finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored, a home run and an RBI. Lucas Basile finished game two 1-for-1 with a pair of walks. 

  • Keith Ramsey took the loss on the mound for the Rams going five innings, allowing seven runs, five earned, on 11 hits with a strikeout. Nicholas Kutcher tossed two innings of relief allowing two runs on four hits with a strikeout.
