Fitchburg State Swings Past Baseball

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 16-8 by Fitchburg State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Riccards Field.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Fitchburg State 16, Framingham State 8 

- Records: Framingham State (15-17, 13-6 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (12-24, 7-12 MASCAC) 

- Location: Riccards Field Fitchburg, Mass.   

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Falcons jumped out to a 6-0 lead with two runs in the first and four in the second. The Falcons extended the lead to 11-0 with five more in the fourth. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the fifth with four runs. Ryan Plocker and Ryan Boyle each walked with the bases loaded plating a run and Shane Costello added a two run single. 

  • The Rams tallied two more in the top of the sixth on a two run single from Matthew Hart, but the Falcons pushed the lead to 16-6 with five runs in the seventh. 

  • Plocker doubled in a run for the Rams in the top of the eighth and Robert Johnston added an RBI double in the ninth to account for the Rams final two runs. 

  • JC Espinal finished the game 2-for-4, while Hart, Plocker and Costello drove in two runs apiece.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at home with a pair of games against Fitchburg State at 1 p.m.
