Baseball Cruises to Sweep of Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team cruised to a pair of victories over Mass. Maritime by scores of 13-1 and 12-3 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Game 1: Framingham 13, MMA 1 

  • The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first on a two run single from JC Espinal. 

  • The Rams added two more in the third on a two run single from Dan Frellick to lead 4-0. 

  • Mass Maritime got on the board in the top of the fourth on a solo home run, but the Rams plated six in the bottom of the inning to lead 10-1 Luca Basile plated a run with a triple then scored on an error. Robert Johnston added a two run single and Daniel Robichaud drove in the final run of the frame. 

  • The Rams added two more in the fifth on a two run home run to right by Ryan Boyle and one more in the sixth on a Frellick home run to reach the final margin. 

  • Joshua Sunderland earned the victory on the mound for the Rams going seven innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts. 

  • Espinal finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, two run scored and two RBI, while Johnston finished the game 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. 

Game 2: Framingham 12, MMA 3 

  • The Rams once again got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first which included an RBI single from Espinal. 

  • The Rams used a sacrifice fly from Basile and an RBI groundout from Boyle to extend the lead to 4-0. 

  • The Bucs got on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single from Damon White, but the Rams used a two run double from Boyle to push the lead to 6-1 after four. 

  • After a Mass. Maritime solo homer in the top of the fifth, the Rams received a two run home run from Ryan Plocker to push the lead to 8-2 after five. 

  • Mass. Maritime took advantage of a passed ball to score their third run of the game, but the Rams capped the scoring with four in the sixth including a three run double from Espinal. 

  • Vincent LoGuidice earned the victory for the Rams going five innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Scott Nosky closed the game with an inning of scoreless relief. 

  • Espinal finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI, while Boyle finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI.
