Baseball Holds On for 15-12 Victory over Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team held off a comeback from Mass. Maritime as the Rams secured a 15-12 victory over the Buccaneers this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Central Campus Field.

-Scores:  Framingham State 15, Mass. Maritime 12 

- Records: Framingham State (11-14, 9-5 MASCAC), Mass. Maritime (16-16., 9-7 MASCAC) 

- Location: Hendy Field Buzzards Bay, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI single from Ryan Boyle and extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third. 

  • The Rams added five in the top of the fourth including a two run single from Robert Johnston. 

  • Boyle doubled in the top of the fifth driving in a run that pushed the lead to 9-0. 

  • Mass Maritime got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, but the Rams added five more in the top of the seventh including a two run homer from Daniel Robichaud. 

  • The Bucs tallied three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Rams added a final run in the top of the eighth to lead 15-4. 

  • The Bucs plated eight runs in the bottom of the fifth closing the gap to 15-12, but Scott Nosky kept the Bucs off the board in the ninth to secure the win. 

  • Cameron Prescott started on the mound for the Rams and went six innings allowing one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts. 

  • Robichaud finished the game 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI, while Johnston finished the day 5-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. 

  • Boyle finished the game with four hits including a pair of doubles and three RBI.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at home with a pair of games against Mass. Maritime beginning at 1 p.m.
