Westfield State Edges Baseball 2-1

Westfield, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 2-1 by Westfield State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Hagan Field.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Westfield State 2, Framingham State 1 

- Records: Framingham State (8-13, 6-4 MASCAC), Westfield State (20-9, 8-3 MASCAC) 

- Location: Hagan Field  Westfield, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams took the lead on an RBI double to right center from Ryan Boyle in the top of the third inning. 

  • The Owls tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI base hit. The Owls took the lead for good in the sixth on a bases loaded walk. 

  • The Rams threatened in the top of the ninth, but the Owls worked out of the jam and secured the victory. 

  • Cameron Prescott took the loss on the hill for the Rams, allowing two earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Benjamin Respress tossed two innings of scoreless relief without allowing a hit. 

  • Ryan Lapierre earned the win for the Owls going seven and a third allowing one run on seven hits with 11 strikeouts. 

  • Boyle finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, while Dane Frellick and Daniel Robichaud added two hits apiece.
