Baseball Swings Past Worcester State 17-10

Worcester, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team received four hits and five RBI from Robert Johnston as the Rams defeated Worcester State 17-10 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at Kevin D Lyons Diamond.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Rams took a 4-0 lead in their first at bat of the game. Ryan Boyle singled home a run and JC Espinal followed with an RBI fielder's choice. The Rams added two more runs in the inning on passed balls.
  • Worcester got a run in the top of the second on a solo homer, but Espinal plated a run for the Rams in the bottom of the inning.
  • The Lancers got a single run in the fourth, but the Rams countered with five in the bottom of the frame including a two run single from Boyle and a two run double from Johnston.
  • The Lancers plated two apiece in the sixth and seventh, but the Rams added four in the seventh and three in the eighth.
  • Johnston went 4-for-5 in the game with a double, a run scored and five RBI, while Espinal finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI.
  • Boyle finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Lucas Basile finished the day with four hits and five runs scored. Ryan Plocker added a solo home run for the Rams.
  • Brady Perkins earned the victory on the mound going six innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits.
