Baseball Rallies for 8-4 Victory over Lasell

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth including a three-run triple from Dane Frellick as the Rams rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Lasell 8-4 this afternoon at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Lasers grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 

  • The Rams cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly to center from Shane Costello. 

  • Lasell added a single run in the top of the sixth pushing the lead back to three runs. 

  • In the bottom of the seventh, Costello drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single up the middle. JC Espinal tied the game with a two run single to center. After the Rams loaded the bases, Frellick delivered a bases clearing triple to right giving the Rams a 7-4 lead. 

  • The Rams added a final run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from Ryan Boyle to reach the final score. 

  • Brady Perkins started on the hill for the Rams and did not factor in the decision. Perkins went five innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. 

  • Joshua Santiago earned the victory by tossing three innings in relief allowing one earned run on two hits. Alexander Montero earned the save, tossing a scoreless inning without allowing a hit. 

  • Espinal finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI, while Costello finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.

The Rams are back in action this weekend with three games against Worcester State.
