Baseball Rallies for 11-10 Victory over Bridgewater State

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team battled back from a 6-2 deficit to defeat Bridgewater State 11-10 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Alumni Park.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 11, Bridgewater State 10 

- Records: Framingham State (2-11, 1-2 MASCAC), Bridgewater State (8-7, 2-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Alumni Park Bridgewater, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Rams cut the deficit in half with two runs in the bottom of the second on an RBI double from Dane Frellick and a sacrifice fly from Matthew Hart. 

  • Bridgewater pushed the lead to 6-2 with two more in the top of the third, but the Rams used an RBI single from Robert Johnson and an RBI groundout from Johnny Lynch to close the gap to 6-4. 

  • Trailing 9-4 in the bottom of the fifth, the Rams added a single run on a double play ball. 

  • Framingham took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the sixth on a Johnston RBI single, a bases clearing triple from Lynch and an infield single from Daniel Robichaud. 

  • Bridgewater tied the game, 10-10, in the top of the seventh but the Rams plated the game winning run on another Johnston RBI base hit in the bottom of the inning. 

  • PJ Moniz earned the victory on the hill for the Rams going three and a third allowing four runs, one earned, on five hits. Benjamin Respress earned his first save of the season tossing two scoreless innings of relief.
