Baseball Swept in MASCAC Doubleheader at Salem State

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

Game 1: Salem State 4, Framingham State 2 

• In the opener, the Rams grabbed the lead in their first at bat of the day on a solo home run to right off the bat of Ryan Boyle. 

• The Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the second inning and took the lead 3-1 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. 

• A single run in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI triple by Zachary Piroh extended the Vikings lead to 4-1. 

• The Rams received a leadoff double from Cameron Gilroy in the top of the seventh. Joseph Fasolino followed with a single putting runners on the corners. Gilroy came around to score the Rams final run of the game on a double play ball. 

• Anthony Panza took the loss on the mound for the Rams going four and two thirds allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with three strikeouts. 

• Ryan Morry tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief and did not allow a hit. 

• Gilroy finished the game 2-for-3 for the Rams with a run scored. 

Game 2: Salem State 5, Framingham State 1 

• In game two, the game was scoreless going to the bottom of the fourth inning when the Vikings got on the board with a single run. 

• The Rams tied the game in the top of the fifth inning.  The Rams loaded the bases with two outs after back-to-back infield singles from Chris Iannetta and Robert Johnston and an intentional walk. Kennedy Wilson drew a walk forcing in Iannetta to tie the game 1-1. 

• The Vikings countered with a single run in the bottom of the fifth and three in the sixth to secure the victory. 

• Scott Nosky took the loss for the Rams on mound going five and a third allowing three earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts. 

• Iannetta finished the game 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, while Gilroy collected a pair of hits.

The Rams are back in action on Friday when they travel to Westfield State for a MASCAC contest at 3:30 p.m.
