Baseball Falls to Lasell In 10 Innings

Waltham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team tied the game in the top of the ninth and took the lead in the top of the tenth, but the Lasell College Lasers plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the tenth to secure a 9-8 victory in non-conference action at Stein Diamond. 

THE BASICS: 

- Scores: Lasell 9, Framingham State 8 (10 Innings) 

- Records: Framingham State (5-15), Lasell (9-11)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Lasell grabbed the early lead with a single run in the bottom of the second. Tyler DiNezza doubled down the line and moved to third on a groundout to second base. Jordan Martinez followed with a one run single to center field.  

  • The game remained at a 1-0 standstill until the Rams plated three in the top of the fourth. Ryan Boyle laced an RBI double down the right field line followed by a Jeremy Kelly double to left center sending Boyle in for the run. Kennedy Wilson scored on an error on a fielder's choice for the 3-1 score. 

  • Lasell tallied single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth tying the game at 3-3. 

  • The Rams plated three runs in the top of the seventh taking a 6-3 lead. Cam Gilroy led off the frame with a solo homerun to right. Boyle added an RBI single and Lucas Basile scored on a balk. 

  • The Lasers countered with three in the bottom of the inning knotting the game at 6-6. 

  • The Lasers capitalized on a pair of Ram errors to plate the go ahead run in the bottom of the eighth, but Basile homered in the top of the ninth sending the game to extra innings. 

  • Gilroy singled to lead off the top of the tenth and came around to score on an RBI single from Evan Kirkpatrick. 

  • The Lasers plated two in the bottom of the inning to secure the walk off victory. 

  • Basile, Boyle and Gilroy finished the game with two hits apiece for the Rams
