Baseball Picked Third in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State baseball team was predicted to finish third in the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

The Rams finished tied for third in the poll with Mass. Maritime at 32 points each. Both trailed reigning MASCAC Tournament Champion Westfield State with 47 points and six first place votes and Salem State who collected 38 points and one first place vote.

The Rams come off a 2018 campaign in which they finished the MASCAC regular season in third place with an 8-6 record and 21-19 mark overall making their second consecutive trip to the MASCAC Tournament Championship Game.

Under the direction of first year head coach Sean Callahan, the Rams return NEIBA All-Region and All-MASCAC first team selection Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) who led the league with 25 stolen bases on 28 attempts. Williams ranked second in the conference and led the Rams with a .378 average including seven doubles and 23 RBI.

Framingham State will also return 2017 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year Kevin Connelly (Bolton, Mass.) who went a MASCAC-best 7-1 on the year with five complete games and three shutouts with 63 strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA in 2017.

The Rams will open the 2019 season on Saturday, February 23rd when the host New England College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass.
