Baseball Closes the Regular Season with 2-0 Loss at Trinity

Hartford, Conn. – The Framingham State University baseball team closed out the regular season this evening with a 2-0 loss to Trinity College in non-conference action at Murren/DiBenedetto Field.

The Rams close the regular season with a 17-17 record and host MCLA on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Bowditch Field in an opening round game of the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Tournament.

Trinity got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on a two out solo homerun by Matt Koperniak.  They doubled their lead in the bottom of the fifth.  Brendan Pierce tripled to left field and scored on a ground out for the final run of the contest.

The Rams received two hits in the contest from senior Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.), while junior Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) and senior Cameron Borrelli (Peabody, Mass.) tallied a single hit apiece.

Sophomore Kyle Coolidge (Plymouth, Mass.) took the loss for the Rams on the mound going four and a third allowing two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Sophomore Kevin Scerra (Marlborough, Mass.) tossed an inning and two thirds of relief and did not allow a hit, while junior Blake Waters (East Sandwich, Mass.) and freshman Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) tossed a scoreless inning apiece.

Alex Shafer earned the victory for Trinity going six and a third innings allowing just a hit with three strikeouts, while McLane Hill earned the save tossing a scoreless ninth.
