Johnson & Wales Downs Baseball 13-3

Providence, RI – The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 13-3 on the road this afternoon by Johnson & Wales University.  The Rams are now 13-14 on the year, while the Wildcats are now 18-12.

The Wildcats got on the board first in the bottom of the third, but the Rams came back with two in the fouth to take their only lead of the day.  Matthew Brockett (Guilford, Conn.) singled down the leftfield line and moved to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Brockett came around to score on a double up the middle by senior Cameron Borrelli (Peabody, Mass.).  Junior Kyle Lippert (Carlsbad, Calif.) singled up the middle to drive in Borrelli.

The Wildcats came back with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. They added a single run in the sixth and seven in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

The Rams tacked on a single run in the top of the eighth to reach the final margin.  Junior Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.) drove in a run on ground out with runners on first and third.

Lippert finished the game three-for-four with an RBI for the Rams, while Borrelli and Brockett picked up two hits apiece.

Freshman Michael Tucci took the loss for the Rams going four innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Bridgewater State for a MASCAC doubleheader beginning at noon.
