Baseball Tabbed to Finish Sixth in 2017 MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University baseball team has been tabbed to finish sixth, while Westfield State, Salem State and Massachusetts Maritime Academy have been selected to capture the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Title in voting conducted by the league's coaches.     

The Rams are slated in the sixth spot in the 2017 preseason poll along with Bridgewater State University.  Both teams received 19 total points, landing just behind Worcester State University who claimed the fifth spot with 23 total points.  The Rams return a trio of 2016 All-MASCAC honorees in seniors Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) and Cole Josselyn (Hampton, NH) and junior Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.).

Westfield State, Salem State and Mass. Maritime all earned 42 total points with the Owls grabbing four of the eight available first place votes.  Salem State received three, while Mass. Maritime earned the final first place vote.  Sitting in the third spot with 29 points is Fitchburg State and rounding out the poll in eighth is MCLA who received eight points.

The Rams are slated to open the 2017 season on Saturday, March 4th when they host Nichols College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
