Five Rams Earn All-MASCAC Baseball Second Team Honors

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University baseball team placed five players on the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball All-Conference Second Team in voting conducted by the league's coaches and announced by the conference office this morning.   

Junior first baseman Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.), freshman shortstop Anthony Venuti (Braintree, Mass.), junior third baseman Cole Josselyn (Hampton, N.H.), senior catcher Jon Chapman (Waltham, Mass.) and sophomore outfielder Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) were all selected to the second team and earn the first all-conference honors of their careers.

Chapman earns his first all-conference nod in his final season with the Rams after finishing the regular season with a .318 average including six doubles, a team-best seven home runs which ranks him second in the conference and 27 RBI.  Wardwell closed the regular season hitting .291 for the Rams with 11 doubles, four home runs and 26 RBI, while Pileski hit .222 with five doubles, five home runs and 27 RBI.  Pileski stole 12 bases on the year and was caught just three times.

Venuti and Josselyn earn all-conference accolades in their first season with the Rams.  Venuti saw time at both middle infield positions this year as he hit .248 with six doubles, a triple, a home run, 15 RBI and four stolen bases.  Josselyn batted .260 with four doubles and a triple while driving in nine runs.  Josselyn racked up 14 stolen bases on the year and was thrown out just once.

The Rams finished the regular season sixth in the conference and will face third seed Fitchburg State in an opening round game on the 2016 MASCAC Baseball Championship on Thursday.
