Baseball Falls Short at Salve Regina 13-7

Newport, RI – The Framingham State University baseball team took to the road this afternoon and were defeated 13-7 by Salve Regina University in non-conference action at Reynolds Field.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 5-6 on the year, while the Rams slip to 3-9.

The Rams belted three homeruns in the game including a two run shot by junior Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) in the eighth inning. Wardwell drove in three runs in the game.  Senior Jon Chapman also collected a two run homer in the fifth innings, while junior Manny Powers connected for a solo shot in the fourth inning. Chapman finished the game with a pair of hits as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and two walks.  Senior Jake Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) also recorded a pair of hits for the Rams.

Kyle Hodgson took the loss on the hill for the Rams going five innings. Hodgson allowed seven runs, one earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex where they will face Keene State at 3:30 p.m.
