Kirby named FCBL Pitcher of the Year

Framingham, Mass. - Framingham State University senior pitcher Zack Kirby (Rochester, Mass.) was named the 2015 Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Pitcher of the Year.

The Rams right-hander pitched for the Brockton Rox this summer sporting a 4-1 record with a 1.69 ERA. Kirby had 51 strikeouts in 47.2 innings while only allowing 33 hits in regular season play. The Rox finished second in the East Division with a record of 34-22

Kirby looks to build on his outstanding junior season that saw him compile a 7-2 record in 13 appearances with 106 strikeouts and just 19 walks in 85 innings of work. Kirby led the MASCAC in strikeouts averaging just over 11 per game and was among the conference leaders in victories and ERA (1.38).  Kirby was previously named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American Second Team and to the All-New England First Team by ABCA/Rawlings, the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Coaches Association (NEIBA) and D3baseball.com.  Kirby was also recognized as the MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and a first team All-MASCAC selection.

The 2015 Framingham State baseball team set a school record with 27 victories and finished as the runner up in the 2015 ECAC Division III New England Baseball Championship Tournament.
