Kirby Named All-American; Three on All-Region Team

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State pitcher Zack Kirby (Rochester, Mass.) has been selected as a second-team Division III All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans were announced Thursday night during the opening ceremonies of the NCAA Div. III World Series at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wis.

Three Rams were named to the ABCA All- New England Region team as well as New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All- New England Team. Kirby was chosen as a first teamer while senior Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) was placed on the second team and senior Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) earned third-team honors.

Kirby finished his 2015 All-American campaign posting a 7-2 record with a 1.38 ERA and 7 complete games, 3 of which were shutouts. He allowed 60 hits and just 19 walks in 85 innings of work. His 106 strikeouts were the second most by any pitcher in Division III through May 17th.

Mainini hit .378 with 3 homers, 27 RBI & 33 runs scored while swiping 16 bases. He led the Rams with 62 hits on the year.

Derosier led the Rams in on-base percentage at .464, in homers with 11 and RBI with 38. His .646 slugging percentage was also a Rams best along with his 20 stolen bases.

The Rams concluded the 2015 season as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Tournament runner-up and finished with a record of 27-19, a new school record for victories in a season.
