Baseball Fourth Seed in MASCAC Tournament

Westfield, Mass. – The Framingham State University baseball team has earned the fourth seed in the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Championship Tournament.

The Rams will host fifth seed Westfield State University on Thursday, April 30th at the New England Baseball Complex in Northboro with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. The winner will advance to face top seed Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Friday in Buzzards Bay.  The Buccaneers will host the remainder of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rams went 7-7 in the MASCAC this season and we led by the 2015 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year in Zack Kirby (Rochester, Mass.).  Kirby compiled a 4-1 record in league play with four complete games and three shutouts.  Kirby led the MASCAC with 89 strikeouts on the year and was third with an ERA of 1.61.

Offensively the Rams were led by All-MASCAC selections seniors Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) and Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.).  Mainini hit .393 on the year with 12 doubles, 23 RBI and 15 stolen bases, while Derosier batted .375 with 10 homeruns, 11 doubles and 36 RBI.
