Baseball Records 24th Win with 7-3 Victory over Keene State

Keene, N.H. – The Framingham State University baseball team tied the school record for wins in a season with a 7-3 victory this afternoon over Keene State College at the Owl Athletic Complex.

The Rams are now 24-15 on the season and tie the 2010 baseball squad that went 24-18.  The Owls drop their fourth straight game and are now 9-22 on the season.

Senior Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) doubled in a pair of runs to stake the Rams to a 2-0 lead in the third inning.  Seniors Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) and Billy Desrosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also had RBI hits in the frame for Framingham State.

KSC made it 4-1 in the bottom of the third when Billy Buscetto drew a one out walk and moved to second on Libby's single.  Billy Hartmann hit into a fielder's choice to shortstop, but Mainini sailed the throw past first base, allowing Buscetto to score.

An error and a bases loaded walked upped the Rams' lead to 6-1 in the fifth.  Keene State plated one run with two out in the sixth.  Christian Bourgea drew a walk and took second on another FSU error.  Zach Rollins cracked a single to right-center, bringing around Bourgea.

Keene State made it 6-3 in the seventh when Joe Libby hit a two out triple and scored on Billy Hartmann's double to left field.

Colon restored a four run lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth.

Kevin Guild took the loss, striking out two in 4.2 innings of work.  Tim Coppinger allowed one run in 3.1 innings of work, and John Williams pitched a scoreless ninth.

Freshman Kevin Connelly (Bolton, Mass.) picked up the win, striking out three and walking three in 6.2 innings.

Keene State hits the road for the final time this season with a trip to Springfield College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.  Framingham State closes out the regular season by hosting Nichols College on April 29th at the NEBC in Northboro at 7 p.m.
