Framingham, Mass.  – After finishing the season 20-18, the Framingham State University baseball team has been selected as the fifth seed in this week's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Championship. The tournament is an eight team field with a quarterfinal round on Wednesday, a semifinal round and a championship round on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rams will travel to fourth seed Springfield College on Wednesday, May 7th, for a 3:30 p.m. game.  The Pride went 20-15 during 2014 and fell to MIT in the NEWMAC Tournament's best-of-three series.

The 2014 Rams finished third in the MASCAC and were led by senior Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.).  Derosier was a first team All-MASCAC selection who batted .318 with 41 hits and 24 RBI.  Junior Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) was also solid at the plate hitting .333 with eight doubles, four homeruns and 25 runs batted in.  The Rams were led on the hill by senior Matt DiCato (Winthrop, Mass.) and freshman Mike Andrews (Stoneham, Mass.).  Andrews went 7-1 with an ERA of 1.25 this year en route to being named the MASCAC Baseball Co-Rookie of the Year.  In 64 innings of work he struck out 33 and allowed just nine earned runs with five complete games.  DiCato went 4-4 with a 4.00 ERA and 43 strikeouts.

Rounding out the tournament are top seed Roger Williams University (24-16) who will host eighth seed Becker College (20-17) on Wednesday, seventh seed Fitchburg State University (22-17) who travels to second seed Salve Regina University (24-16) on Wednesday and third seed Suffolk University (21-13) who travels to sixth seed Lasell College (18-13) also on Wednesday.

The winner of the Framingham/Springfield quarterfinal will meet the winner of the Roger Williams/Becker quarterfinal on Saturday, while the winner of the Fitchburg/Salve Regina game will meet the winner of the Suffolk/Lasell match-up in the other semifinal.  The winners of the two semifinals will meet on Sunday for the championship.

The Rams last appearance in the ECAC Tournament was in 2012.
