Andrews Named MASCAC Rookie of the Year as Three Rams Earn All-MASCAC Honors

Framingham, Mass. – Freshman pitcher Mike Andrews has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Co-Rookie of the Year and to the All-Conference second team, while senior third baseman Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has been named to the first team and junior Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) has landed on the second team in voting conducted by league's coaches and announced by the MASCAC office this afternoon.

Andrews, who was named MASCAC rookie of the week three times and earned a pair pitcher of the week honors this season, shares Rookie of the Year recognition with Fitchburg State outfielder Steven Drury, Jr.  Andrews led the MASCAC going 7-0 this year with a conference best 0.92 ERA with four complete games and four shutouts.  Andrews recorded 31 strikeouts in 56 innings of work with opponents hitting just .173 against him.

Derosier and Colon each earn their first career All-MASCAC honors. Derosier batted .330 with 38 hits including six doubles and 20 RBI.  Colon was second on the Rams with a .336 average. Colon rapped out a team-high 39 hits including eight doubles, three triples and a homerun with 15 RBI.

The Rams finished the regular season 19-16 overall and 8-6 in the conference which earned them the third seed in the conference tournament.
