Winter Haven, Fla. – The Framingham State University baseball team received strong pitching performances from sophomore Dillon Corliss (Winterport, ME) and freshman Mike Andrews (Stoneham, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Utica 4-1 and 6-0 this afternoon at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

Corliss tossed six strong innings in the opener allowing just one earned run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.  Junior Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) went 1-for-2 in the game with two RBI while, sophomore Jake Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) and junior Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) each drove in single runs as the Rams erased a 1-0 deficit with four runs in the second inning.

In the nightcap, Andrews was dominant in the complete game effort.  Andrews scattered just three hits through seven innings of work without surrendering a run while striking out four and not issuing a walk.

Junior Matt Gerard (Milford, Mass.) led the offense going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Colon and Mainini each went 2-for-3.  Colon scored a pair of runs, while Mainini and senior Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) plated single runs.

The Rams close out their spring trip tomorrow with games against Huntington and the University of Southern Maine.
