Milton, Mass. – Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the ninth, Curry College scored a pair of runs to edge visiting Framingham State, 5-4, in non-conference baseball action Friday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels improved to 7-20-2 on the season while the Rams fell to 15-19.

All the scoring in the game was accomplished in three half-innings. Curry plated three runs in the fifth, thanks to a sacrifice fly by junior Matt Moore (Clearwater, Kan.), an RBI double by sophomore Derek Pizarro (Cambridge, Mass.) and a run-scoring infield single by sophomore Tanner Givens (Hamden, Conn.).

Framingham State tallied all four of its runs in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead. Sophomore Matt Gerard (Milford, Mass.) stroked an RBI double that was followed by a pair of run-scoring singles by seniors Justin Forman (Watertown, Mass.) and Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.). Crofton would later score on an error to give the Rams a one-run advantage.

The Colonels' ninth-inning rally consisted of an RBI single to left by Pizarro that plated freshman Tim Lathrop (Colchester, Conn.) with the tying run, and a double deep down the right-field line by senior Sam Barron (Hadley, Mass.) that brought home Pizarro with the winning run.

Pizarro went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while Givens went 2-for-4. For Framingham State, Crofton went 3-for-5 with an RBI while junior Anthony Iafolla (Medfield, Mass.) went 2-for-5.

Freshman Kyle Terrien (Dighton, Mass.) picked up the win in relief, tossing the final 2 1/3 innings and allowing just one walk. Sophomore Cameron Couillard (North Andover, Mass.) absorbed the loss after surrendering two hits and an earned run in 2/3 of an inning.

Curry is back in action on Saturday, taking on conference rival Wentworth in an 11:30 a.m. doubleheader. Framingham State returns home for a league twin bill against Bridgewater State on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
